Byron Clarke says:
My name is Byron Clarke and I was born and raised in Eastern Canada. I graduated from Brock University in Canada with a Bachelor Degree in International Business. I have also attended language schools in France, Taiwan, and Peru. Studying has given me insight on the challenges of grammar, pronunciation, and intonation. I intend to use this knowledge to help students overcome the difficultly of mastering English. I enjoy working with other cultures and help young kids develop into strong students. By offering a positive learning experience, I have no doubt your child can succeed inside and outside of the classroom. I look forward to working with the students at Columbia while creating a fun and challenging learning atmosphere.

Chris Seurattan says:
I am Chris Seurattan. I have worked in Taiwan teaching English and other subjects for over four years. I am a very active and outgoing teacher that plays a lot of games and learning activities. Children here in Taiwan start their education very young and because of that fact, I believe they need a lot of encouragement and praise to build their confidence. That way learning is easy.

Daniel McKay says:
My name is Daniel McKay and I graduated from Multnomah University with a Bachelor Degree in Theology. I grew up in beautiful Ruch, Oregon, a small mountain town near the California border. In 2008 I taught a mix of K-6 for a year in Busan and then for five years in Seoul and enjoyed it very much. My approach to teaching EFL to children is essentially to maintain a dynamic atmosphere in the classroom. I aim to keep students’ minds awake by varying the volume and tone of my voice, moving around the room, using big gestures to illustrate ideas, and making as many connections as possible between different aspects of the language we discuss. I look forward to seeing our students progress throughout the year.

Eve Yang says:
My name is Eve Yang. I have my Bachelor’s degree in Teaching at Ming Chuan University, and I can confidently say that I’m passionate about two things: teaching and languages. Having learned a second language myself, I’m committed to helping my students develop their linguistic skills and sharing my learning strategies with them. I started teaching in college where I was doing one-on-one tutoring with exchange students, and this triggered my desire to pursue a teaching career. Through my teaching experience, I’ve come to realize that to progress as a teacher, learning is essential. I’m therefore very grateful for the opportunity to better my teaching skills through Columbia, and learn how to integrate Montessori teaching methods into the classroom. I’m honored to be a part of your child’s growth and lead them on the way to acquiring perfect pronunciation with our phonics program. Your child will embark on a wonderful journey of learning here at Columbia!

Karl Antonsson says:
My name is Karl Antonsson. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and attended university at the University of California, Santa Barbara where I studied Psychology and Religious Studies. After graduating from my University, I spent two years working as an undergraduate academic adviser for UCSB. I moved to Taiwan in late 2014 and spent one year living and teaching English in Chiayi City, then moved to Taipei 6 months later. I strive to make my class feel like a respite from their day to day routine. I believe in a balance of lecturing and reinforcement through play, allowing students to internalize concepts while exercising their creativity, energy, and competitive spirit. I look forwards a year full of academic accomplishments and greater fluency in English for all of my students.
Sarah Grzezinski

Sarah Grzezinski says:
My name is Sarah Grzezinski and I grew up in the biggest city in Wisconsin. My first two years of university were spent at UW-Madison studying linguistics, writing, and journalism. I subsequently transferred to UW-Milwaukee for two more to focus on editing and creative writing. I arrived in Taiwan in 2014, and taught English for the past year in Taoyuan. I’ve taught everything from vocabulary, phonics, and reading to grammar, writing, and linguistics, and my students have ranged from age 3 to 14 in class and privately. To be the best mentor for developing youth, an instructor must always be searching for new ways to pique their students’ interest as well as challenge their abilities as they improve their level. Everyone learns in a different way, and successful students are the product of flexible, open learning environments. I aim to create such a space for your children and their growing, amazing brains!
Sharon Shih

Sharon Shih says:
Hello! My name is Sharon Shih. I am very excited to be a part of the Columbia English Language Team! I was born in Taipei, Taiwan but moved to the United States of America when I was only a couple of months old. As a result, my native language is English. I grew up in Houston, Texas. I came back to Taiwan to obtain my college degree from Christ’s College with a degree in English with a focus in TESOL. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up. Since middle school, I have worked part time as a private English tutor for students ranging from as young as preschoolers to adults. My goal as a teacher is to create an environment where the students can feel comfortable, safe, and stress-free in the classroom. It is also my goal to not only teach my students but to give them encouragement and motivation as well. Learning phonics is very important and crucial for students as it serves as a foundation for the English language. I hope to develop a love of learning English with my students while having fun!
